Great horned owl - we hear their mating calls now

To celebrate our native Great horned owls – weeks ago we started hearing mating pairs calling back & forth in the night. But we rarely spot this species – so all of my owl close-up’s are captive – shot at the nature center. I shot this guy with my original Canon S3 … surrounded by other photographers with their big lenses, many years ago. All of us having a great day. Never posted this shot.

btw my Yellow-throated warbler is still here today – hitting all of my feeders and suet as if he’s lived in our yard for years! We’re in the 70’s … wonder if he’ll head to Florida when it gets cold again??
