High Above the Valley

High Above the Valley

A quartet of Arizona Central Railroad GP variants lead a loaded cement train though what I suppose is technically a forest out in the middle of nowhere North of Perkinsville, AZ. The train originated in Clarkdale, AZ and is bound for the BNSF interchange in Drake. With one of the GP26s in maintenance, all three first generation Geeps were included in the consist. The power consists of AZCR 2164, a 1950 built GP7u; AZCR 2279, a former TPW highhood GP7 built in 1952; former SP GP9R highnose AZCR 3413 built in 1956; and newly acquired GP26 AZCR 2602, a GP30 rebuild originally built in 1963.
