Pictured here is home of the famous Siegfried’s Mechanisches Musikkabinett or mechanical music museum, it resides in a basement of a lovely 15 century manor house steps away from the upper portion of the Dosselgasse.
Siegfried Wendal was on his honeymoon in Los Angeles and stumbled across a collection of player pianos and musical mechanical devices.
Being a craftsman he was intrigued at the workmanship and thus was born a love for these devices and a lifetime hobby of collecting, restoring and preserving these wonders.
Take your time observing these mechanical marvels they are tucked into every nook and cranny and are designed to be heard not just seen.
Siegfried’s collection found its home in 1969 when it out grew his ability to store them privately, on display are items ranging from the world’s smallest to the huge automated concert piano Ochestrion.
Disclaimer: Not trying to be realistic in my editing there is enough realism in the world, my style is a mix of painterly and romanticism as well as a work in progress.
I took this with my D750 and Tamron SP 24-70 2.8 G2 Lens processed in LR and DXO Nik
